Acerca de mi
Martha Samaniego Calderón nació en la ciudad de Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, en donde vivió gran parte de su niñez . Desde pequeña, sintió una gran pasión por los colores vibrantes y la calidez de su cultura veracruzana. Sus padres, al darse cuenta del interés de su hija por el arte, la apoyaron y la inscribieron, junto con su hermano Aurelio, a clases de pintura para niños en el Centro de Desarrollo Infantil de Xalapa. Mas tarde, se mudó con su familia a Tabasco en donde vivió los siguientes 3 años de su vida. En Tabasco, Martha tuvo la oportunidad de aprender nuevas tradiciones y diferentes culturas viajando por el Sureste mexicano con su familia hasta volver a tierras veracruzanas en donde una vez mas tendría contacto con clases de dibujo y pintura en la Casa de la Cultura de Córdoba, Veracruz y a través de clases de pintura en los últimos semestres del bachillerato con su maestra Arleth Irina Galicia Cortés.
Uno de los logros más sobresalientes de Martha fue que la Secretaria de Educación y Cultura del Estado de Veracruz la reconoció como ganadora del Segundo lugar en el Concurso Estatal Estudiantil de Pintura del ciclo escolar 2003-2004.

En el año 2004, Martha decidió estudiar la carrera de Diseño y Producción Publicitaria en la Universidad Popular Autónoma de Puebla en donde cursó diversas materias de fotografía y diseño publicitario, sin embargo tras solamente 3 semestres de estudio, Martha decidió regresar a su natal estado de Veracruz para reencontrarse consigo misma y descubrir su interés por la Comunicación.
Martha se graduó Magna Cum Laude de la Licenciatura de Comunicación en la Universidad Anáhuac de Xalapa en el año 2009.
Desde el 2010, Martha vive con su esposo y sus dos hijos en Estados Unidos, país en donde ha experimentado en piel propia lo complejo y difícil que es ser una mujer inmigrante, particularmente, en los tiempos políticos vigentes en los cuales existe una constante lucha por el redescubrimiento de su identidad como mujer mexico-americana y una gran necesidad de encontrar el sentido de pertenencia en una sociedad tan diversa sin olvidar sus raíces mientras construye nuevas experiencias biculturales.
Actualmente Martha está estudiando la Maestría en Educación del Arte en Facultad de Artes Visuales y Diseño en la Universidad del Norte de Texas.

Martha Samaniego Calderón was born in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, where she lived a most of her childhood. Since she was a child, she felt a great passion for the vibrant colors and warmth of her Veracruz culture. Her parents, realizing her daughter's interest in art, supported her and enrolled her and her brother Aurelio in painting classes for children at a local Child Development Center in Xalapa. Later on, she moved with his family to Tabasco where he lived the next 3 years of her life. In Tabasco, Martha had the opportunity to learn new traditions and different cultures traveling through the Mexican Southeast with her family until returning to Veracruz where she would once again have contact with drawing and painting classes at the Casa de la Cultura in Cordoba, Veracruz as well as through painting classes in the last semesters of high school with his teacher Arleth Irina Galicia Cortés.
One of Martha's most outstanding achievements was that the Secretary of Education and Culture of the State of Veracruz recognized her as the winner of the Second place in the Student State Painting Competition of the 2003 -2004 school year.
In 2004, Martha decided to study Advertising Design and Production at the Popular Autonomous University of Puebla where she studied various courses of photography and advertising design, however, after only 3 semesters of study, Martha decided to return to her native state of Veracruz to reconnect with herself and discover her interest in Communication.
Martha graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Bachelor in Communication at the Anahuac University of Xalapa in 2009.
Since 2010, Martha lives with her husband and her two children in the United States, a country where she has experienced in her own skin how complex and difficult it is to be an immigrant woman, particularly in the current political times in which there is a constant struggle for the rediscovery of her identity as a Mexican American woman and a great need to find a sense of belonging in such a diverse society without forgetting her roots while building new bicultural experiences.
Martha is currently studying her MA Degree in Art Education at the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas.
